Jennifer Rendall

Consideration as to how human constructs have played out in relation to the natural environment, and research on the naturalization of some of New Zealand’s indigenous plants growing in their antipodal regions and vice versa, have been recent research areas for Jennifer Rendall in informing her art practice.
Her practice is diverse in that she makes large paintings. Often on found fabric, plant tracings and drawings, and some of her recent projects have included creating designs for walls of varying scale in urban areas, and paintings on Māori meeting houses /wharenui.

An important part of Jennifer’s practice involves ‘field work’ or walking trips for observing and documenting plants. Time spent in the natural world, in the forest, rivers, and mountains is her biggest source of inspiration.

Jenn makes her residence at Can Serrat in September 2023.
