Karen Byk

Karen Byk was born in Buenos Aires in 1993, where she earned a degree in History from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. Since 2018 she has lived in Berlin, where she completed a Master’s in Social and Economic Communication at the Universität der Künste with a Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung scholarship, and she develops poetry projects in Spanish.

As an author, she has published the poetry collections Hice una fiesta y ahora quiero echarlos (Granada, Valparaíso Ediciones, 2024) and Tocarle los huesos al bosque (Berlin, Siesta Verlag, 2022), as well as the zines Distancia entre líneas (Berlin, Infraleve, 2019) and Mensajes de amor en baños públicos (Berlin, self-published, 2019). She also appears in the anthologies Voces Periféricas. La poesía latinoamericana en Alemania (Equidistancias, 2024) and Ein Zaum im Meer / Una reja en el mar (Berlin, Bübül Verlag, 2021).

Her poems have been translated into German and English and published in journals such as Periódico de Poesía (Mexico), Op.cit. (Argentina), La Poesía Alcanza (Argentina), Lateinamerika Nachrichten (2024), alba.lateinamerika.lesen (2024), Domicilium Quarterly (Berlin, Berlin Untelevised, 2019), and The Wild World (2020), among others.

As a translator, she has published Flores de Vidrio (Buenos Aires, Milena Caserola, 2024), poems by Debora Vogel.

Karen is an artist-in-residence at Can Serrat from September to November 2025.
