Agnieszka Kwiatkowska

Agnieszka Kwiatkowska is a mosaic artist working with glass, marble, and stone using traditional techniques learned at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Italy. Her work is rooted in slowness, intuition, and the tactile process of assembling fragments—material, remembered, or imagined—into contemplative compositions. Formerly based in the Netherlands, she now lives in Oliva, Spain, where textured landscapes and mountain silhouettes have begun to shape her evolving relationship with place and practice.

Her work explores the relationships between material, emotional, and spatial fragments. She is drawn to the textures of natural elements, the shifting of light across surfaces, and the dialogue that forms between each tessera. In contrast to today’s fast-paced digital culture, her art offers a tactile, time-intensive experience that honours slowness, patience, and presence. She understands mosaic as a quiet act of transformation, where individual elements enter into relationship, forming something new through care and attention.

After a long pause to raise two young children (born in 2021 and 2023), Agnieszka is returning to her practice with a renewed sense of presence and curiosity. She is particularly interested in how tactile processes and quiet making can serve as tools for connection, both inner and collective. She is currently researching how natural landscapes and sensory impressions shape artistic expression.

Agnieszka Kwiatkowska is in residence at Can Serrat in January 2026.
