Annie Rovzar

Annie Rovzar is a writer and educator from Berkeley, California, USA. She is passionate about using poetry as a tool for both personal and social transformation. For the past seven years, she has taught creative writing in San Francisco in a school for pregnant girls, in a high school, and also in San Quentin with incarcerated men. She received an MFA from the University of San Francisco in Creative Writing. She has walked the Camino de Santiago three times, and her current project was born out of that experience.

Her current project is a collection of poems called “Past All Graspedness” that explores the themes of memory and place. Her poems investigate how memories continue to live in the present moment and in new forms. At the same time, the poems struggle with distance – in season and place – between us and the past, and try to create a new map of who we are among everything that changes.
