Bea is a multidisciplinary artist from Lithuania, currently based in the Netherlands. After graduating with a BA (honors) in Fine Arts: Photography from Willem de Kooning Academy, she has been merging lens-based visuals with the practice of creative writing. Personal experiences are the foundation of her work; therefore, she applies various methods of journaling as tools to figure out ideas, thoughts, and themes.

The sense of disconnection within an achievement-driven western, contemporary society raised Bea’s interest in the formation of one’s perception of lived reality. This led her research to the philosophy of process, which means learning to emerge in duration, flow, and constant change, versus focusing on fixed goals and results. Through these concepts, the artist is exploring how to depict elusive feelings and states of being.

Her practice begins with observing and capturing the ordinariness of dailiness. By layering, cutting, scratching, (re)scanning 35 mm negatives, the artist creates visuals that stand between reality and imagination. The act of rewriting her journals facilitates the creation of personal yet abstract texts. By employing these methods in her last book, “Have you asked me to send you a postcard a description of this view I have seen before closing the envelope” (2025), Bea transformed the documentation of her nomadic travels into a poetic visual and textual story. This and other works of hers leave space for the audience to interpret and invite them to reflect on their perceptions and experiences.
