Guilhem Berini

Berini is a visual artist who develops his pictorial work within the aesthetic he calls “pochismo.” This style, derived from the word “pocho,” is characterized by the use of childlike drawing techniques and the intentionality of smudges, mistakes, and crooked lines.

Berini graduated in Arts and Design from the Escola Massana (2024) and during his academic training experimented with mixing diverse techniques, materials, and supports. But for him, painting is his life and the driving force behind his research. He maintains that “painting is painting and nothing more” and that “we must learn to look without searching for so many layers of meaning.” Furthermore, the history and folklore of his native region, the Val d’Aran, are another element present in the imagery that shapes his work.

Berini has been a member of the “Ja Llibreria” Context School at La Capella, directed by Enric Farrés Duràn, and has participated in exhibitions such as “Young Talents” at the Sara Caso Gallery (Madrid).

“Holets” was his first solo exhibition, curated by Unfunny_Curator and shown at Cuarto

Location in Hospitalet de Llobregat. He has also been selected to participate in the Stripart art festival at the Guinardó Civic Center and is a finalist for the Miquel Viladric Painting Prize.
