Victoria Marie Barquin spent her childhood growing up in Cranbury, New Jersey. She moved to Chicago, Illinois after graduating from the Printmaking Department at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2016. Victoria’s work is fueled by the reciprocal relationship between past and present. Addressing themes of nostalgia, memory, and childhood, her print-based work is often inspired by her contemporary experiences in combination with old photographs, lived interiors and hand-me-downs. While at Can Serrat, Victoria aims to create a series of prints that pay homage to her ancestral roots in Spain’s Basque region.
