Laura is a philosopher, anthropologist, writer, and translator from Colombia. Born next to a volcano, she has been captivated by these geological formations since childhood—a fascination that continues to shape her work and thinking.
Her research and creative practice explore the intersections of new materialisms, catastrophism, affect theory, and the ethics of translation in the Anthropocene. She is especially drawn to the intensities of the geos: those forces, flows, and tremors that unsettle human-centered narratives and open space for other ways of sensing, knowing, and being. She is currently translating the work of anthropologist Elizabeth Povinelli.
Laura is in residence at Can Serrat in January 2026.
