Em’ma Pinoteau is a performer, sound creator, and tattoo artist based in Montpellier. She works between Poitiers, Montpellier, and Barcelona. She collaborates with the Théâtre dans la forêt company on the Radiorama project and regularly takes part in the Can Serrat residency (El Bruc, Spain). She participated in the Nouveau Grand Tour (NGT) project of the Institut Français in Italy with a residency at the CROSS project (Ameno, Italy) in October 2022, where she launched her project Dogs Fire. In parallel, she co-created the exhibition En attendant l’orage with Pierre Richard at Confort Moderne in Poitiers. In April 2023, she was invited by TAP (Théâtre et Auditorium de Poitiers) to present her performance En rencontrant l’orage as part of the À Corps festival. From May to December 2023, she developed Dogs Fire at Can Serrat (El Bruc, Spain).
She later joined the Well-Being project at the Sansusi residency in Latvia from October to December 2024.
Her practice and research are defined by an approach that places bodily experience at the center of the proposition—whether individual or collective, human or non-human. She is committed to preserving, opening, showing, and sharing experiences such as suffering, violence, or domestication, while fostering encounters and creating spaces for listening.
She designs protocols and meeting spaces where others can participate and become central to the process. She often reactivates tales, legends, and stories from communities and territories to inspire her creations.
Em’ma is an artist-in-residence at Can Serrat from September to October 2025.
