Mario Moroni

 

Mario Moroni is an italian-born poet and poetry performer, long time resident of the united states, where he taught in various colleges and universities, he retired in 2019. in the course of his career, both in italy and the us, he has worked first on esperimental poetry, later on more linear poetry, since 2006 he began collaborating with several composers, musicians to arrange and orchestrate his poems for multimedia poetry performances – based on reciting voice, live music, digital sound and image compositions. he has brought his performances in many venues and festivals in the us and abroad. for the last six years moroni has been working on a long-term poetry project consisting in re-working and re-imagining classical poems and greek tragedy in a contemporary, experimental language, and resetting them in the reality of our times and tragedies. he has already completed long poems based on latin poet virgil’s poetry, on tragedies “elektra”, “antigones,” “medea,” and “oedipos rex.”

Mario will be in residence at Can Serrat in August 2025.
