Ekin Tümer was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1993. After studying Social Sciences at Queen Mary University of London for a year, she went back to Istanbul to graduate from Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of Cinema and Television. She worked in varied fields such as social media management, photography, video editing, and copywriting, where she felt kind of lost and mostly unsatisfied. In 2020, she has switched to literature and practiced writing fiction. Her first novel titled Dört Ayak Üstünde (On All Fours) was published in 2022. Ekin continues both fiction and non-fiction writing on themes related to the sense of belonging, identity, populism, and conflicts & affinities between individualism and collectivism while also working as a freelance translator and editor for independent art initiatives.
Ekin will be in residence at Can Serrat in June 2025.
