Nina Violette Valette

Nina Violette is a French transdisciplinary artist based in Rennes. Alongside her jobs in social work and care, and after training in textile art at the University of Art and Design in Hamburg, she obtained her diploma in plastic expression at the Fine Arts School in Poitiers in 2023. She completed her work on alternative care practices in residence at Villa Bloch in 2024.
Her practice combines textiles, performance, photography, video and poetry… Through these different mediums, Nina Violette invites the living into collective works to tell their own stories, to heal themselves, to make the encounter a medium in its own right. She convenes bodies, her own and those of others, to talk about their reappropriation and empowerment.
Her field of thought is fuelled by creation between women and queers, our social struggles, our relationships with the environment, the invention of new ways of living, care as both an artistic and political process. Her practice seeks to be organic, to find places where art and activism meet. In this constant obsession with making connections, she tries to highlight simple gestures as bearers of poetical and political narratives.

Nina takes up her residency at Can Serrat during July – August 2025.
