Becki Bouchier

 

Becki Bouchier is a Singaporean-Australian writer and filmmaker based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her work explores challenges faced by women, with a focus on mental health and preconceived gender roles. Her short films and long-form screenplays have screened and placed in festivals all around the world. Becki was nominated for an Australian Directors’ Guild Award and an Australian Writers’ Guild Award for her short film ‘Snapshot’, which had its world premiere at the Academy Award qualifying Austin Film Festival. Becki is a recipient of the SBS Emerging Writers’ Incubator, supported by Screen Australia and VicScreen. In 2019, Becki made her first foray into theatre, writing and directing the play ‘Chasing Yesterday’, which premiered at the Melbourne Fringe to a sold-out season. Becki completed an artists’ residency with Platform Arts in 2020, and the associate artist program with The Voice In My Hands independent theatre company in 2021. She holds a Master of Film/TV from the Victorian College of the Arts.
