Hester van Hensbergen is a food writer and cook driven by a desire to work towards a better food future. Since completing her PhD in environmental political thought at the University of Cambridge in spring 2021, she focused her writing, thinking, and activism on the food system: it is at the heart of the challenges we face in terms of climate change, biodiversity loss, and creating a more egalitarian and ecologically viable world. She is interested in food and community projects that reject neoliberal capitalism, techno-solutionism, and the dominant system of land and property distribution; and which embrace cooperative and communal ownership, participative work systems, and degrowth ideology in action.
Hester is in residence at Can Serrat during January-February 2024.
