Cathy Kossack is a chef and food justice organizer with education in visual arts and art administration. For five years she worked at Headlands Center for the Arts, first on the programmatic side but quickly found her way into the kitchen being drawn to food’s natural way of facilitating togetherness by providing sustenance, care, and comfort. For the last year she has been working with World Central Kitchen, a global NGO run by chefs who respond to disasters around the world like earthquakes, wildfires, and refugee crises by feeding the people affected and displaced. Most recently she returned from the Haiti relief effort responding to the 7.2 earthquake cooking in the small coastal town of Jeremie and the US – Mexico border at Del Rio, Texas helping feed 15,000 asylum seekers waiting under the International Bridge to begin their asylum process.
Cathy will be in residence at Can Serrat during the months of September-October 2022
