Yi Hong Wang

Yi Hong Wang (Hong) is an art worker, image researcher, and islander. Born in New Taipei, he grew up in Chiayi and Taipei on Island Taiwan. He has studied in New York, USA, Copenhagen, Denmark, and currently resides in Rotterdam, Netherlands. His research focuses on exploring and reconstructing the concept of imagery, re-examining the relationship between imagery and archives from a non-linear historical perspective.

Coming from a photography background, he is concerned with the conceptual reframing of photography, where images are re-narrated as events. Photographs are not only the records of the past but the very material of the imaginary and its potential to transform our understanding of time and history. In recent years, his creations have used sound and performance as mediums to “re-call” imagery events.

Yi Hong Wang will be in residence during the month of August 2025.
