Valentina is half Argentinian and half Italian. She has over 10 years of experience as a pastry chef and cook. She has worked in various countries in Europe and Latin America and currently lives in Barcelona. She also studied philosophy and screenwriting. She was a radio columnist, sharing her grandmother’s adapted recipes, and taught pastry classes for the Mescladís Foundation.
The research and writing of her book, “Las cucharas” (The Spoons), led her to connect with her family history and archival work, as well as to investigate the relationship with cooking across generations, the role of women in transmitting culinary knowledge, and their transformation from housewives to gastronomy professionals. Women like Cristina were key in disseminating culinary knowledge. Furthermore, the book presented a challenge in testing the recipes, researching Argentinian flavors, experimenting with ingredients, and adapting to current eating habits. It is also an exploration of how migration shapes culinary identity and the culture of different peoples.
Valentina will be in residence in May 2026.
