
Sophie Béhal is a visual artist and educator from Kilkenny, currently living in County Tipperary. Her practice takes a multi-material approach, with storytelling at its core, often incorporating sculptural, photographic, and print elements. She completed the Art + Research Collaboration (ARC) MA through IADT in 2018, and the value of collaboration is central to her practice.
Recent projects include A Certain Slant of Light, Visual Carlow – Community Arts Project 2025; a collective narrative residency at Can Serrat, Spain (2024); the solo exhibition Threadsuns at South Tipp Arts Centre (2024); Arts Council bursary awards in 2022 and 2024; the Participation Project Award in 2024; and EU funding in 2024.
Sophie Béhal is in residence at Can Serrat in February 2026.
