Rejane GALERNE

Réjane Galerne is an artist whose interest in children’s books and book objects has led her to explore sensory storytelling across performance, reading, and illustrated books. She first trained in graphic design and is currently studying illustration and contemporary art at EESI in Angoulême, France.

Combining science fiction and poetic approaches, her writing seeks to reshape language to imagine positive futures and explore our strangeness. Through fictional translation and non-human, fluid, and vegetal characters, she addresses anti-speciesism, the porous boundaries between living and non-living things, and the intersections of the discrimination we experience. This metaphor allows her to explore our vulnerability through sensations and the reclaiming of our own bodies. Convinced that our stories influence how we build a future as a society, she seeks to reinvent our ways of telling them.

Réjane Galerne is in residence at Can Serrat during September-October 2026.
