Emily Sides (b. 1995) is an interdisciplinary artist whose works focus on self-realization, self-actualization, and self-awareness through the use of non-traditional materials such as noble gases, various acrylics, and mirrors. By focusing on these societal aspects, Emily’s work attempts to break the fourth wall between the audience and the artist, standing between the knowledge of what her piece is and their conjecture of what it could be. Emily also has an interest in how contemporary technology can affect the construction of her works, leading to the creation of various projects using CNC routers, laser cutting, and noble gases. Emily earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in Sculpture in 2018 from the University of North Texas and a pre-Masters certification in Architecture from Columbia University, New York, NY in 2017.
