Andie James

Andie James is a Melbourne/Naarm-based interdisciplinary artist. Her creative practice centres on bids for connection through socio-material exchanges. More specifically, Andie’s works highlight the vignettes we leave for each other in public contexts, and how they convey a sense of belonging in a world that is increasingly dystopian and technocratic. With an awareness of how ephemeral these offerings can be her work act as an altar to elevate the mundane, to emphasise the beauty of plain objects and interactions in dreamy technicolour.

Her interdisciplinary practice is often community oriented, participating in group shows and collaborative residencies. Presently, she is balancing her art practice with a full time role in children’s books publishing. This year, she has been awarded as a finalist in the Australian National Emerging Art Award, and hopes to present her work internationally.

Andie is doing her residency at Can Serrat in June 2025.
