Clio Gevirtz and Sebastian Kleppe have been making narrative short films together since they were 13. They studied classical and art films while learning film production in San Francisco. Then, Clio studied film at Columbia University and Sebastian studied film and philosophy at Sarah Lawrence College. By day, Clio works as a commercial producer and Sebastian as a teacher. Though years of working together they have developed a language of visual storytelling that they utilize in their award-winning short films.
After university and at the beginning of the pandemic, Clio and Sebastian reconnected with peers from San Francisco to form a film workshop collective, where they met remotely to discuss films and write scripts. Through this workshop, they shot several short films and continue to work collaboratively with their peers to create new projects. While they have worked on projects in multiple genres, Clio and Sebastian are drawn to stories about adolescence and coming of age, particularly investigating how the next generation seeks to grapple with the world at large. Currently, Sebastian and Clio just returned to San Francisco after backpacking the world for 16 months. They are eager to take the perspectives, details, and stories they’ve learned and incorporate them into future projects.
Sebastian and Clio are doing their residence between August-September 2024
