Gabriela Alonso Martínez

Gabriela Alma is a filmmaker. She was born in the Canary Islands. During her years of study at ECAM, she discovered non-fiction, which opened up a whole new world in cinema that she was unaware of.

She has directed several short films, and in the past 2 years, she has transitioned to feature films. After shooting “Ménades,” she realized that her cinema had to be focused on women. It was something that motivated her, excited her, and made her feel much more connected to her work.

Her first film, “Tener Tiempo,” has participated in different festivals, winning the audience award in one of them.

Gabriela will be doing her residency at Can Serrat in August 2024.
