Her name is Adela, and she is a Valencian activist, illustrator, writer, and visual artist currently based in Barcelona. She is passionate about processes, transforming the unconscious into the conscious through observation, understanding, and dialogue. An inexhaustible source of creation as a tool for communication, she weaves alternatives through awareness and collective empowerment.
She draws inspiration from her origins, history, politics, nature, music, and an infinite array of other elements, where she always finds the fighting flame of our existence—the struggle of the oppressed, the forgotten, the invisible. For her, illustrating, writing, and creating is a refuge, and in it, we all fit. In her work, we have a voice, and we are the voice of those who are missing.
Technically, she employs various plastic resources and traditional techniques, with a particular fondness for graphics and printing. She is interested in self-publishing and mural art, which she believes are both accessible to everyone. Thanks to her time at the Escola Massana, she is currently exploring both ceramics and experimental animation.
Her creative process is fundamentally about CREATING, and she believes that to do so, it is necessary to get her hands dirty, nurturing the inner child by playing and learning continuously. It is a space to embrace mistakes and turn them into infinite possibilities.
Adela will be in residence at Can Serrat during January-February 2025.
