Arlen Buchara

Arlen is a journalist, editor, and producer. She was born in Nicaragua in 1987. She spent her childhood and adolescence between Italy, Cuba, and Argentina. Since 2006, she has lived in Rosario, Argentina. She holds a degree in Social Communication from the National University of Rosario and completed a Master’s degree in Narrative Journalism at the University of San Martín in Buenos Aires, where she lived for two years.

 

For eight years, she wrote for the Rosario newspaper El Ciudadano. She was a radio columnist, a television news producer, and the general editor of Cosecha Roja. She has published in media outlets such as Revista Anfibia, Página 12, Eldiario.ar, Revista Crisis, Latfem, Apología, Letra P, and Suma Política, as well as in books of chronicles. She also worked on Parque Podcast, producing audio series.

With two friends, she edited 19. A Narrative Cartography of Santa Fe, a book that invited writers to travel and write about the province. She is also the co-author of the play *Morir es otra cosa* (Dying is Something Else) with Lucía Rodríguez. In 2024, she was nominated for the Gabo Award. Previously, she received the Juana Manso and Virginia Bolten awards, and grants from Amnesty International and the Women’s Equality Center.

 

Her first book, *Rosario, perfil de una ciudad al límite* (Rosario, Profile of a City on the Edge), was published in September 2025 by Futurock Ediciones. Since 2020, she has been working with her sister, Valentina Buchara, on the book *Las Cucharas* (The Spoons).

 

Arlen will be in residence in May 2026.
