Pablo Antonio Torres Velandia was born in El Cocuy, Boyacá. A writer and victim of the armed conflict, he studied at the National University of Colombia, where he co-founded the publishing house La Vaga-Ansia Poética. There he published several anthologies, including La Vaga-Ansia Poética, Un rayo en el silencio, En la cuerda floja, Farmacia de cuentos, Pandemias crónicas – Relatos del confinamiento, Narrativas del bicentenario, Anthologies of Short Story and Poetry of the Festival Internacional de la Cultura de Tunja, Pluma dorada and Pluma dorada.
He is currently a member of the Boyacá Writers’ Association (AESBO) and of the Ministry of Culture’s National Network of Creative Writing and Literary Gatherings (Relata), where his works were selected on two occasions (2022 and 2024). This allowed him to take part in the Relata national workshop José Eustasio Rivera since 2021 and Los Impresentables City of Poetry in 2023. He has also been selected twice to participate in the Relata national short story and historical short story workshops.
In 2024, he published El Gigante de piedra (The Stone Giant) with Corporación Alejandría publishing house. The book was presented in the Bologna Children’s section of the Bologna Book Fair and is part of the BibloRed collections of Bogotá’s public libraries.
In 2025, he was awarded a residency at Can Serrat, Catalonia (Barcelona), through an open call by the Boyacá Secretariat of Culture and Heritage.
Pablo is an artist-in-residence at Can Serrat in October 2025.
