Anuka Fernández Fuks

 

Anuka Fernández Fuks was born in 1985 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a journalist, writer, and cultural agitator. Her education includes studies in literature, linguistics, human rights, gender studies, communication, journalism, and audiovisual languages.

Beyond academic studies, she trained in poetry workshops and clinics with Diana Bellesi, Gabriela Borrelli, and Verónica Yattah; in narrative and journalism with Leila Guerriero, Cristian Alarcón, and Josefina Licitra. She was also part of the artistic research group of visual artist Lucía Morón for two years, participated in archive workshops and activations led by artist Romina Resuche, and joined the writing exploration group of lesbian activist Val Flores.

For her work in print journalism, she received the Juana Manso distinction (2020), and for her radio work, the Lola Mora award (2021). In 2021, she was awarded second prize by the National Library and the Museum of the Book and Language in the National Love Story Contest “Silvina Ocampo,” and in 2023 she received a grant from the National Arts Fund for the development and publication of the epistolary fanzine El ladrido de los perros por las noches.

She published the prose poetry book Soy un efecto with Nulú Bonsai in 2011. She has participated in numerous poetry anthologies and is currently revising her second poetry book.

Currently, she is part of the feminist media outlet LatFem and works as a freelance journalist for various national and international media. Additionally, she has been facilitating writing workshops and spaces for several years.

Based on her varied experiences, she is particularly interested in exploring the multiplicity of languages, their intersections and potentials to tell stories. She works from the hybridity of her experiences and concerns. Above all, she is committed to collective practices and creations.

Anuka is doing her residency at Can Serrat between July 2025.
