Gabriela Ram

 

Gabriela Ram was born on February 14, 1984, in Mercedes, Argentina. She is an actress, playwright, and theater director. She graduated as a Professor of Literature from IES No. 1 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Argentine Literature in conjunction with other arts at the National University of Rosario. She teaches workshops and seminars at university, tertiary, and secondary levels. She also coordinates writing clinics and book clubs along with writer Santiago Featherston, and as a scholarship recipient of the FNA 2022 program.

Her first short story collection is Les versiones que fuiste (Hormigas Negras 2021 and 2022). Her story “Yo solo limpio mis pasos” is a finalist and anthologized in the La Balandra 2023 narrative award. She has participated in the anthologies Revolución, escuela de un sueño eterno (LMT 2017); Territorixs (Tipas Móviles 2018); Los vicios de los muertos (Hormigas Negras 2020); and No importa cómo escribir (Fanzine of the recent Local de las Artes scholarship coordinated by Francisco Garamona 2023).

She is currently directing the play Tres centímetros de un frío infinito, a profile of tennis player Monica Seles written by Ivana Schiaffino and winner of the PROA writing encouragement award 2022. She is also the director of the performative show Cómo volverse invisible (based on La aventura sobrenatural, Seix Barral 2023) with authors Esther Cross, Betina Gonzalez, and Fernando Noy as hosts, set to premiere on November 1.

As part of the grant from the Centro Cultural de España in Buenos Aires, she wrote the theatrical portrait Quiero darte (2020). She wrote and directed Acá no hay obra (2019 Oeste Usina Cultural), Seca (2018, where she also acted under the direction of Andrea Garrote), Mugre Virgen (2016-2017 NoAvestruz), and Trasnochadas (2011-2013 Festival Internacional de Teatro Independiente de La Habana, Pan y Arte, El Cuervo) in co-direction with Danae Cisneros.

She participated as a director in the cycle Enredadera, teatro y literatura (2017). As an actress, she worked in Museo Ezeiza (2009-2018 C.C. Paco Urondo, C.C. Haroldo Conti, C.C. San Martín), Urdaestallido (2014 Tecnópolis), and Antígona Vélez (2011 Teatro Nacional Cervantes) under the direction of Pompeyo Audivert; El Convite (2012-2013 ILU), by Antonio Villa, and Fuegos by Marguerite Yourcenar, directed by Margó Menéndez and Edgardo Dib (2009) among many others. She has assisted in various productions by Pompeyo Audivert, Cristina Martí, Marina Barbera, Agustín Martínez, etc.

She is the curator of the Dj’s de libros cycle at Cineclub Lucero and the Fondo de Cultura Económica bookstore in Buenos Aires, with 16 editions to her credit, where three artists share the highlights and marginal notes of their favorite books from their libraries (@dj_delibros).
