Marie Mons is a visual artist who uses photography. Born in 1984, she lives and works in Paris. A deft and subtle mix of physical landscapes and interior worlds is at the heart of her multidisciplinary work. From the island exile of Iceland to Martinique, Marie Mons leads us to question our identities. Crystallizing notions of withdrawal into oneself, confinement, but also escape, she invites us, with Aurore Colbert and A Smile from Case-Pilote, to discover these islands in a way that oscillates between introspection and exploration of the world. While pursuing her residencies in France and abroad, Marie Mons explores, by all the means available to her, not only the world around her but also her inner universe, and invents a dreamlike language to relate this to us.
During May 2022 Marie will be at Can Serrat as part of the retorns program.
