Laia Borràs is a young emerging artist who has always lived close to the rural world, the mountains, and traditional culture. In a way, these three elements are the main pillars of her projects. The rural world for its calm, its rest, and its slow, silent rhythm. The mountains also for their silence, but above all for their natural richness and value, which are so important to preserve. And traditional culture for its folklore, celebrations, and craftsmanship, which always evoke the warmth of a home.
Laia develops her practice between the performing and visual arts. She is interested in the construction of sound objects and elements that can be manipulated from a performative perspective, beyond the exhibition space. She is also interested in creating elements that interact with the mobility and body of the spectator. Audiovisual editing is a recurring tool she uses to present her projects and record interventions. She enjoys approaching her projects collectively, making it possible for external agents to participate.
Laia will be in residence at Can Serrat from January to February 2025.
