Montserrat Llampallas

Montserrat Llampallas was born in 1994 in Mexico City. She studied a BA in Fine Arts at the University of the Americas Puebla (2018) and an MA in Fine Art at the Oslo National University of the Arts (2021). Her work swirls around the body and the experience of ‘space’ and points towards the fabulation of ‘antigravitational practices’ and the listening and intonation of mute languages.

She has found in movement a form and language to play, bend, unfold, multiply, and meld these words. Using her body as a site of reference and research, she formulates propositions in the shape of collective and individual action, text, drawing, performance, and installation.
She was also part of Åpent Forum, student-run nomad organ of dialogue and debate in Oslo (2020-2021). She wrote for and formed part of the team of Termostato, a fanzine that deals with and promotes creative writing in Puebla (2018-2019), besides participating as a broadcaster and producer in the radio program Desde el Anonimato (2015-2018) and as content director in the culture section of the student radio Elocuencia 8080 (2016-2018).

Montserrat makes her residence at Can Serrat in Septembre 2023.
