
Mariana is a visual artist based in Lisbon. Working mainly with drawing and oil painting, her work develops narratives about human relationships and social conventions, often depicting moments of communion and leisure.
In 2024, she participated in the Kunstraum LLC artist residency in New York, with the support of FLAD- Luso-American Development Foundation, and exhibited in the collective show “Unfolding Roots” in “L’appartement 49c” in New York. In 2022, she participated in the art residency organized FLAD at Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas, in São Miguel – Azores. She has been exhibiting in Portugal since 2017, having participated in solo exhibitions at Galeria Belard (2024), Espaço Cultural Mercês and Casa do Comum (2024), Rua das Gaivotas 6 (2022). She has taken part in group exhibitions at Galeria do Sol, Porto (2025), Zaratan Contemporary Art (2025), OSTRA / Tiny art Gallery of Hague (2025) Monitor Gallery (2024) Brotéria (2022), Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas (2021), Alga Gallery (2019) Pavilhão 31 at C.H.P. Júlio de Matos (2017), among others.
Her work has been featured in publications such as Umbigo Magazine 88, DOSE 11, and Portuguese Emerging Artists 2023, and her paintings are represented in the FLAD Collection and private collections in Portugal, the United States, and Brazil. Alongside her artistic work, she has been working in art and culture mediation activities in museums, film productions, and NGOs. In 2019, she began collaborating with the Quinta das Relvas Association, where she co-organizes art residencies for emerging artists. In 2024, she took a specialized course in Set Design and is currently working as prop maker for cinema.
Mariana will be in residence in May 2026.
