Gargi is an intuitive and curious visual storyteller whose work is rooted in nature and human-spiritual connection, often meditated over through travel. Her creative process includes multiple mediums like hand-drawn illustration, digital illustration, clay sculpting, collage images, tactile natural elements, and an unsaid element of magic. She uses one of more of these to craft layered visual narratives. She frequently pairs her imagery with written stories, offering meaning, context, and space for reflection.
She recently completed her Master’s in Visual Communication in Hamburg, Germany, where she presented a graphic novel pitch as an author-illustrator for her thesis. Inspired by a week-long solo trek in the Himalayas, the story explores how shifts in the external landscape mirror inner transformations, conversations with the self, and a profound sense of connectedness born from solitude in nature.
Deeply connected to mountains and wilderness, Gargi draws inspiration from her meditation and yoga practice, as well as her curiosity about ancient cultures expressed through food, architecture, clothing, and storytelling. She documents and shares her travel and life experiences through a lens of self-reflection, seeking deeper spiritual meaning rather than consumerist, short-term fulfilment.
Currently, she works as a designer in Germany. Before moving, she ran her creative studio in India for over four years, working across graphic design, murals, illustration, and graphic recording. Through her work, she aims to broaden and deepen avenues of self-expression, both personally and professionally.”
Gargi will be in residence in May 2026.
