Lucy Oates is a multi-disciplinary artist working in, print, video, and textiles. Addressing both social and personal subject matters within her practice. A recent graduate from the Royal College of Art, she has an MA in Mixed Media Textiles. Prior to that, she studied Contemporary Arts Practice at Bath-Spa University. Alongside her practice, Lucy is part of the Bristol-based arts and music collective Do-iY. The strand of her practice involving waste material stems from her fascination of how one can manipulate these discarded materials, to have new identities, altering their aesthetic and function from ‘unwanted’, ‘ugly’ rubbish to have ‘beautiful’ ‘valuable’ finishes.
Lucy has made her residence in Can Serrat during the month of April 2020.
