My text-based work takes form through graphite drawings, bookbinding, and an array of printmaking processes primarily including intaglio, cyanotypes, and relief printing. \\n\\nMy hybrid poetry imagines a symbiosis between nostalgia and guilt in order to understand how a Catholic upbringing has contributed to my notions of self within the context of contemporary womanhood. During this past year of isolation and chaos, in which I have not been able to escape my singularity, my poetry has focused on the sudden compulsion to constantly identify proof of my existence, as if checking to ensure my own shadow is still there. I observe the physical traces I\u2019ve left, impacts I\u2019ve made, trail markers of my own validity. After feeling so out of touch with myself and the world around me, perhaps it is my way of regaining contact. \\n\\nWhen translating text\u2014mine or others\u2019\u2014to visual art, each of the methods I employ ultimately shares the outcome of distorting the original text and hindering its legibility. By doing this, I strip the words down to study their pure visual form, reassigning emphasis from their content to their appearance as images. El meu treball basat en el text pren forma a trav\u00e9s de dibuixos en grafit, enquadernaci\u00f3 i una s\u00e8rie de processos de gravat que inclouen principalment la calcografia, els\u00a0cianotipos\u00a0i la impressi\u00f3 en relleu.<\/p>\n<p>La meva poesia h\u00edbrida imagina una simbiosi entre la nost\u00e0lgia i la culpa per a entendre com una educaci\u00f3 cat\u00f2lica ha contribu\u00eft a la meva noci\u00f3 del jo en el context de la dona contempor\u00e0nia. Durant aquest \u00faltim any d&#8217;a\u00efllament i caos, en el qual no he pogut escapar de la meva singularitat, la meva poesia s&#8217;ha centrat en la sobtada compulsi\u00f3 d&#8217;identificar constantment proves de la meva exist\u00e8ncia, com si comprov\u00e9s que la meva pr\u00f2pia ombra segueix aqu\u00ed. Observo els rastres f\u00edsics que he deixat, els impactes que he provocat, els marcadors de rastre de la meva pr\u00f2pia validesa. Despr\u00e9s de sentir-me tan desconnectada de mi mateixa i del m\u00f3n que m&#8217;envolta, potser \u00e9s la meva manera de recuperar el contacte.<\/p>\n<p>Quan tradueixo un text -meu o d&#8217;uns altres- a un art visual, cadascun dels m\u00e8todes que ocupaci\u00f3 t\u00e9 com a resultat final la distorsi\u00f3 del text original i l&#8217;obstaculitzaci\u00f3 de la seva llegibilitat. En fer-ho, despullo les paraules per a estudiar la seva forma visual pura, reassignant l&#8217;\u00e8mfasi del seu contingut a la seva aparen\u00e7a com a imatges.
